Fettercairn Show 2014

July 5th was a great success! Our stand at the show was very popular, meeting many current patients as well as making lots of new friends. While we are proud to continue to provide the veterinary cover for the show animals, prize winning cattle, sheep and horses, we also offered free dental checks to all the dogs who came by to say hello, or simply take a drink at our watering hole. Everyone left happy with a free sample of dental chews and entry into our raffle to win a selection of prizes - winners to be notified soon! Take a peek at the pictures below for a sneak peek at the day!

***OAP Awareness***

July and August are Old Age Pet Awareness months! If you have a dog who is over 10 years old, or a cat who is over 12 years old, please call any of the surgeries to arrange your FREE health check and consultation with one of the vets. Some of you may have already received a letter to invite you along, but you don't have to wait for your invite!

Older pets are more likely to struggle with certain diseases for example dental or degenerative joint problems. These can often be seen as just a sign of ageing, but there are many options and treatments for management of these conditions which can improve your old friends quality of life.

Please take advantage of these FREE checks to discuss any of your worries with one of our vets and to get your pet a full check over. While stocks last, there is also a FREE grooming kit available - so get in there quick!

September 2012:

ARTHRITIS AWARENESS MONTH

September is Arthritis Awareness Month at Robson Vets.  The cold and wet weather of Autumn can be hard on older dogs, and arthritis is a condition that affects around 20% of senior dogs (over 10years old).

At Robson Vets we are offering FREE Senior Dog Check Ups during September.  If your dog is 10years plus book an appointment to see one of our vets who will check your dog for the signs of arthritis, as well as other age related conditions including heart disease, obesity and dental disease.

Call now for your appointment on 01561 377314 (available at all surgeries).

Robson Vets Open Day

We had a very busy and successful Open Day on Saturday 1st September and we would like to thank everyone who came along.

Many people went on Tours behind the scenes of the Veterinary Hospital and were able to get advice from and chat to our Vets and Nurses.  There were lots of freebies given out, we had a visit from the purple Feliway Cat, there was a raffle and teas in aid of Hounds for Heroes and the Wildlife Friends Foundation Thailand - raising over £100 - and we had lots of kids activities and competitions.

The Grampian Police Dogs joined us for the day and carried out several demonstrations on the work they do, including sniffing out lost property and chasing suspects.

The Cats Protection League also had a very busy stand and provided lots of information on the work they do in the area.

Overall it was a successful afternoon and we all enjoyed seeing our current clients and meeting new ones, we hope you all had a good time and went home with lots of information.

A small article and photo have been printed in the Kincardineshire Observer this week - check out our Facebook Page for more details.

July 2012: PARVOVIRUS ALERT -

'The Vaccination Amnesty'

As you may have read here and in the local press we have recently seen two fatal cases of Parvovirus infection in our practice.

This serious disease causes severe bloody vomiting and diarrhoea in dogs of all ages. Fortunately there is a very effective vaccine which protects dog provided that booster vaccinations are given regularly.

VACCINE AMNESTY

We are glad to provide a vaccine amnesty over the next month to help owners to restore the protection in any dogs who have been previously vaccinated but who vaccine status has now lapsed. This incentive allows dog to receive a full vaccine course for the cost of a booster vaccination. The current cost will be £38.96 a saving of £24.28.

Please phone any of our surgeries to arrange an appointment and remember to bring your dog’s certificate of previous vaccinations.

This amnesty has been extended until Friday 10th August.
