Meet our Nurses & Support Staff
Head Veterinary Nurse (Maternity Leave)
Sam is our Head Nurse at Robson Vets and is responsible for the nursing team. Sam joined the practice permanently in December 2013 after working part-time for a short period with us. Previous to joning our team, Sam worked for 2 years in practice in Bristol followed by 18 months in a specialist orthopaedic/neurology referral centre.
Sam enjoys travelling and loved working as a veterinary nurse in both Australia and India. She is the proud owner of a beautiful labrador called Teddy who is a brilliant distraction from the hard work she is putting into her Emergency and Critical Care (ECC) nursing certificate.
Acting Head Veterinary Nurse
Jo is our longest serving nurse, who has been at the practice since starting her training in 1995. She has been responsible for training many of the students who have qualified through Robson Vets Ltd and has seen many a change in her time with the company, including a location move!
Jo currently works three days a week and is covering for Sam during her maternity leave. Jo was formerly in this role but stepped down to concentrate on her young children. In her spare time Jo is studying for a Diploma in Animal Physiotherapy and enjoys riding her horse, running and raising money for multiple charities.
Acting Deputy Head Veterinary Nurse
Emma qualified in 1998 & since then has worked in a variety of practices in the UK & abroad, including The Royal (Dick) Veterinary School, PDSA in Manchester and Veterinary practices in Abu Dhabi.
Emma moved to Laurencekirk 18 years ago with her husband, and in her spare time she enjoys showing her horse Hero who is a welsh section D. Emma also enjoys hill walking with her dogs Fenella, a labrador cross collie, & her labrador Mungo.
Registered Veterinary Nurse
Nicole always wanted to work with animals & started her first job in a veterinary practice in Aberdeen in 2010.
During her spare time she enjoys looking after her small menagerie of dogs, cats, horses, rabbits and a Pygmy Hedgehog! When working and pets don't take up her time she enjoy reading, horse riding or simply relaxing and watching a movie!
Registered Veterinary Nurse
Claire joined the team at Robson Vets in 2016 after working in a veterinary practice in Aberdeen.
At home Claire has two ragdoll cats Theodore & Bella and Oakley a gorgeous springer spaniel who goes everywhere with her!
Claire is currently studying to gain her Bsc top up degree in Veterinary Nursing During her spare time, Claire enjoys running & hillwalking with Oakley and her fiance Ed.
Registered Veterinary Nurse
Helen's veterinary nursing career began in the lake district at age 16. She qualified in 1995 before moving to Scotland. She first lived in the central belt but moved and settled in the north east in 1998.
Before joining Robson Vets in October 2016 Helen worked in several small animal & mixed practices. In addition to this Helen also spent a period of time working for the SSPCA as a wildlife rescue officer.
In her spare time Helen loves being outdoors, running and snowboarding. More recently Helen has began "munro bagging" with her rescue dog Callie.
Veterinary Care Assistant
Barrie joined the veterinary nursing staff at Robson Vets Ltd in March 2006, after previously attending Angus College in Arbroath where he gained NC, HNC and HND qualifications in Animal Care. Barrie has experience working at a variety of veterinary practices, as well as with the Guide Dogs for the Blind in Forfar.
In his spare time, Barrie enjoys looking after his Lhasa Apso dog, Cody and spending time with his family and friends. He also enjoys listening to music, going to the cinema, concerts, comedy shows and walking his dog.
Dorothy Fleming, Accounts Administrator
Dorothy joined us at Robson Vets Ltd as Accounts Administrator in April 2006 having previously worked for the Clydesdale Bank for over 20 years.
In her spare time Dot enjoys spending time with her family and socialising with friends.
Married to Tam, Dot has two daughters – Clare and Tracy and three grandchildren Jack , Louie & Mirren.
Yvonne Shand, Office Manager (Laurencekirk)
Yvonne spent 22 years working in the Civil Service before joining Robson Vets in May 2012. Yvonne and her husband Ian have 2 daughters – Amy and Abbie. In her spare time Yvonne enjoys holidays abroad, learning to play golf and walking Bailey and Storm her two gorgeous orange roan cocker spaniels
Mariel Irvine, Receptionist (Laurencekirk)
Mariel joined the team at Robson Vets Ltd as a receptionist in May 2011. She is based at the Hospital in Laurencekirk.
Outside of work she enjoys cycling, spending time outdoors and with her two boys Ryan & Alfie and little daughter Faye, as well as socialising with friends.
Diane Hogg, Receptionist (Laurencekirk)
Diane joined the team at Robson Vets in December 2013. She is married with 2 children and an amazing little grandson, Hamish. Diane has previously worked at Clydesdale Bank and Alexander Adamsons as an administrator before taking on the new challenges working here brings! In her time off, Diane enjoys gardening and reading.
Linda Scales, Receptionist (Laurencekirk)
Linda joined us at Robson Vets in June 2013. She is married with a grown-up son and daughter, and three gorgeous grandchildren who are the light of her life!
Linda previously worked as a manager for 17 years before joining our reception team, and although she doesn't currently have any pets she has been very tempted by meeting and greeting all the puppies and kittens that visit the surgery!
Outside work Linda enjoys reading and completing crosswords as well as socialising with her family and friends.
Michelle Hagglund, Receptionist (Laurencekirk)
Michelle is originally from Cape Town, South Africa. She moved to Scotland in 2013 with her daughter & husband Richard and currently lives in Luthermuir with her 2 very spoilt
dogs, Angus and Ella. Michelle joined our practice in 2017 after many years in the hospitality industry.
Susan Shearer, Receptionist (Laurencekirk)
Before joining our practice in June 2018 Susan worked for Thomas Cook. She is married and has two daughters and one delightful grandson.
In her spare time Susan enjoys going on holiday & spending time with her friends and family, particularly her little grandson!
Heather Duncan, Receptionist (Inverbervie)
Heather joined Robson Vets Ltd in 2010 as receptionist at the Inverbervie surgery. She previously worked in the retail industry.
Heather has recently learned how to crochet and in her spare time enjoys reading and walking.
Married to Brian, she has a grown-up son and daughter, as well as two cats Milly and Ollie.
Mary Taylor, Receptionist (Portlethen)
Mary joined us at Robson Vets Ltd in October 2007 and is based in our Portlethen branch.
Before working with us Mary spent 6 years working as a receptionist at the Millburn Cottage Veterinary Practice.
During her spare time Mary enjoys walking, listening to music and eating out. She also loves spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary has three grown up sons and three grandchildren, as well as her Dandie Dinmonts called Rogie and Lulu and of course a partner called Ross.
Kirsty Fuller, Receptionist (Montrose)
Before joining the team at Robson Vets in September 2016 Kirsty worked as a receptionist within a Doctors' Surgery for 4 years.
She is based in Montrose where she lives. In her spare time she enjoys walking her two cocker spaniels Milly and Lucy and spending time with her two daughters Kendal and Nylah.
Katrina Keith, Receptionist (Montrose)
Katrina joined the Montrose reception team in November 2016 following a years maternity leave. Previously, Katrina worked in the hospitality industry for 14 years including restaurants, hotels and
Katrina enjoys family time with her husband Wayne and little daughter Maisie. She also loves to go out and have coffee and cake regularly!
Lesley Cockayne, Relief Receptionist
Lesley joined us after relocating back to Scotland from 13 years in Spain. She is married to David with two grown-up children James and Francesca and two gorgeous grandchildren Isabella & Jack.
Lesley has previously worked in the marketing and advertising industry.
Outside work, Lesley enjoys sport of all kinds and long walks with her dog Bailey who is a Beauceron.
