Vaccinations
We strongly recommend vaccinating newly acquired pets to protect them against life threatening infectious diseases. Both puppies and kittens require an initial course of two vaccinations followed by yearly boosters to maintain immunity levels. Vaccinations for rabbits are also available and advisable.
We also offer an equine vaccination programme available at either the livery yard or at our Laurencekirk Branch.
Parasite controls
In dogs and cats we use treatment against two types of worms, tapeworms and roundworms. Puppies and kittens require an initial course against roundworm and from then treatment is given throughout their lives, normally every three months. Other than the health of the animal, the main priority is to prevent contamination of the environment with roundworm eggs, which can be of particular threat to young children.
We can also provide worming treatments for equine and farm stock.
Fleas and sheep ticks are the most common external parasites. Control involves the use of long acting spot-on products applied to the skin of dogs and cats.
